Saluting Thailand’s ‘flat-Earth’ heroes in Geneva

THURSDAY, MAY 12, 2016

I doff my hat to the Thai delegation sent to Geneva to defend the junta government against international allegations of human-rights abuse. You’ve got to be the bravest of the brave to accept this job.

Defending the junta government’s rights record is akin trying to prove the Earth is flat. If I were appointed to such a delegation I would feign sickness.
Meanwhile I’m surprised that none of the delegates pointed out that this government has passed a law to protect dogs. Yes, it is now a crime in Thailand to assault a dog, even if it’s about to attack you.
How can a government that cares so much about the rights of dogs then abuse the rights of its people?
The delegates deserve a big bonus and a hero’s welcome on their return.
