London surrenders to Islamic idealogues

Re: “History made as Europe gets first Muslim mayor”, Letters, May 12.

The fact that Shajid Khan and Muslims generally are celebrating the installing of a mayor of London tells us a lot. Why should it be stated that Sadiq Khan is a Muslim? Why can it not simply be stated that a member of the Labour Party has succeeded in becoming mayor of London? What is the significance of being Muslim?
So-called Islamophobia is not a phobia – it is a real fear of the fact that Islam is taking control of the Western world. It is seeking power by using the principles of democracy, such as freedom of expression and the right to vote, to take control of democratic countries. Sharia courts are springing up all over the UK and Europe, attempting to displace the democratically established legal systems, and mosques are replacing churches. Islam rejects a country’s laws as being man-made while calling for the totalitarian laws “made by Allah” 1,400 years ago that are considered superior.
The argument put forward is that Islam is simply another religion, for which there should be religious tolerance. But Islam is much more than a religion. It is a political ideology that is diametrically opposed to the principles of democracy. The Prophet claimed to be the ultimate prophet and said Islam is a total guide for Muslims on how they should conduct their lives. The significant word is “total”. Islam is totalitarian, allowing no individual freedom and punishing apostasy severely. Because of this, Muslims cannot integrate in democratic society. They lead separate lives while declaring their intention to impose their ideology on society.
The significance of Sadiq Khan’s success has nothing to do with his Labour Party membership. It is celebrated by Muslims as another step forward in Islamising, not only London or even the UK, but the whole Western world. For democratic peoples, this is their real fear.
