Governor should step aside

SATURDAY, JULY 16, 2016

If Yingluck was still prime minister and suspected of graft in her project to buy rice from farmers, the Democrats and PDRC would rightfully clamour for her to step aside until the investigation was complete, because she could easily influence the probe.

To be accepted by the public, the investigation must be seen to have been unbiased. That’s why it’s standard practice for public servants under investigation to be moved to another post – and that’s why Bangkok Governor ML Sukhumbhand Paribatra should step aside until he is cleared of graft allegations.
