Pinrath finally tastes glory after four-year title drought

Pinrath Loomboonruang ended her four-year title drought by beating Mookharin Ladgratok by five strokes to win in the Bt800,000 Singha SAT Thai LPGA Championship at the par-72, 6,383-yard Black Mountain course in Hua Hin yesterday.

The 20-year-old from Nonthaburi  got off to a great start with four birdies from the first five holes before ending her spectacular round with seven birdies against a lone bogey on the 11thfor a 66 and a three-day total 12-under 204.

 

“I’m so overwhelmed to finally have this breakthrough after four years as a professional golfer,” said the emotional former national player.

 

“I couldn’t be happier about the way I was playing this week. In fact I didn’t expect to win at the start of the tournament as I just wanted to do my best at the start of each day,” said Pinrath, who took home the winner's a cheque for Bt114,000.

 

Pinrath is a two-time SEA Games national player, winning two silvers in the team and individual in 2009 and one team silver in 2011.

 

Mookharin, with six birdies against three bogeys, signed off with a 69 and a three-day total of seven-under-par 209 which earned her the runners-up prize money of Bt58,900.

 

Two shots behind at joint third were Dussavi Soopimjit, who shot a final 68 for a total five-under 211, and  Saranporn Langkulgasettrin, finishing with 71.

 

Chayanit Wangmahaporn, a 19-year-old student from State University, won the amateur category with a two-under 214.

 

Next stop on the Thai LPGA Tour is the Singha Park Golf Club in Khon Kaen on August 3-5.
