Pruchya Starts In Style After Knee Injury.
National Davis Cup player Pruchya Isarow showed no sign of knee injury as he returned to competition in three weeks with a convincing 6-4 6-1 win over Pattanapong Borisutpong in first round of the Park 24 Asian Tennis Tour Thailand M4 at True Arena Hua H
The 21-year-old from Hat Yai who had to retire from two rubbers during the Thailand-Taiwan Davis Cup Group II Zonal final round tie in Nonthaburi last month due to the injury used the tournament to test his fitness.
The third seeded Pruchya consulted with a specialist about his condition which was not regarded as a serious case.
“At first I was thinking of having MRI but doctor said it was not necessary to do so. There was just some minor problem with tendons. I feel much better now,” said Pruchya who won three straight Asian Circuits here in June.
“However I’m not 100 per cent cured. So I won’t be engaged in long rallies as I don’t want to aggravate my knees. But so far, there’s nothing for me to worry,” added Pruchya who will take on Thantup Suksumran who advanced to the second round after Suthinan Tantaseraneewat retired with sickness at 6-2 3-0.
In the biggest upset of the day, Chayanon Kaewsutto stunned second seeded Pol Wattanakul 6-3 1-6 6-3. The former country’s No 1 player has bowed out in 12 straight first round matches in international events.
Top seed Jirat Navasirisomboon had no problem serving his spot in round two after he tamed Nattan Benjasupawan 6-3 6-4. Fourth seed Phassawit Burapharitta beat Patcharapol Kawin 6-3 6-1 while Suraj Beniwal beat Jatin Dahiya 6-0 6-1 in the all Indian affair. Grittaboon Prahmanee beat Yuttana Charoenphon 4-6 6-2 6-1 and Congsup Congcar beat Vorachon Rakpuangchon 3-6 6-1 6-2.
