THE ART exhibition “Father’s Instruction” later this month at the Pacific City Club on the 28th floor of Two Pacific Place in Bangkok will pay homage to His Majesty the King on the 70th anniversary of his accession to the throne and commemorate his birthday coming up on December 5.
Phra Dabos Schools in the South and the Phra Dabos Foundation under the King’s patronage have invited 52 respected artists to contribute pieces for the show and sale from October 24 to 28, culminating with an auction on the final day.
The money raised goes to the schools’ students.
The participating artists have been asked to illustrate His Majesty’s advice to conduct our lives in sustainable ways.
Thirty-three of the artworks will be on sale over the four days and 19 others will be reserved for auction.
Announcing the event this week were Assistant Professor Pornthip Pukbhasuk, head of the fund-raising committee, Dr Ornsuda Chareunrat of the Phra Dabos Project, Pattriya Na Nakorn, WaranthayaWattanayuth, Jarut Wongkamchantra of Hof Art, and artists Akachai Wankaew, Dinhin Rakpongasoke, Hongjorn Ngamcharoen and Sulaiman Yamo.
Collectors and private galleries have contributed other works to be exhibited under the theme “The Old Master”.
The National Artists to be represented are the late Thawan Duchanee, Chalerm Nakeerak, literary light Prayat Pongdam and print-master Uab Sanasen.
Other artists involved are ML Poom Malakul, Fua Haripitak, Angkarn Kalayanapong, Aree Suttiphan, Pratuang Emjaroen, Anan Paninm, Nab Sotthibandhu, Worariddh Riddhagni, Panya Vijinthanasarn, Muangthai Busamaro, Prateep Kochabua, Prasong Luemuang, Jitsing Somboon and Pornchai Jaima.
