AkzoNobel, the world’s leading paints company and manufacturer of the global “Dulux” brand, has announced its official sponsorship of the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2016, promising football fans in the region opportunities to watch the games while connecting and enjoying the experience.

This year’s competition gathers eight of the best Asean teams, all of which are currently in top form, promising matches that will attract a large number of viewers across the Asean region. Myanmar and the Philippines co-hosted the group stage of the competition in November. 

First organized in 1996 in Singapore, the reputation and attraction of the AFF Suzuki Cup (formally the Tiger Cup) in Southeast Asian countries have been tried, tested and proven throughout its 20 years history. This year AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 is set to heat up the atmosphere and turn up the love for football among thousands of Thais as well as Southeast Asian fans with its impressive games, skilled players, and spirit of fair play.

An array of activities and events have also been scheduled alongside the games to further enrich fans’ experience of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016, showcasing AkzoNobel’s efforts to bring Southeast Asian fans colourful football experiences.

About the AFF Suzuki Cup
The first AFF Cup, organized in 1996 in Singapore (formerly the Tiger Cup), was one of the unforgettable events for football fans in the region back at that time as it marked the progress of regional football as it progressed to meet international standards and laid the foundation for sustainable development in later years while attracting the attention of a large fan base in Southeast Asia. Since then, every two years, the competition has always lived up to the fans’ expectations, bringing action-packed games and uncovering new talents and has become the most prestigious regional football competition in Southeast Asia, attracting millions of audience and viewers.

This year, Myanmar and the Philippines have been chosen to co-host the group stage of the competition, scheduled to kick start on November 19. This marks the first time Myanmar and the Philippines’ have hosted the tournament. Previously, Brunei Darussalam, Laos, Cambodia and Timor Leste competed in a round robin format in the qualification round held at Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium, Cambodia for the top team to enter the Group Stage of the competition.
