John Arnone’s claim to have no other choice of news channels except CNN is false. He can use his remote to switch to CNBC, Bloomberg, French TV5Monde, German DW, Korean YTN, AustraliaPlusTV, Japan NHK, China CCTV, or Russia Today. He can also access Fox News online via its app. In this modern age of remote controls and Internet, it is easy to switch from a “distasteful” channel to one that suits your tastes. But no, Arnone continues to watch CNN just to be spiteful towards the British presenters and blast the channel in whatever media outlet is foolish enough to provide him a platform. His outlandish statement that Australia is part of the UK was likely a deliberate effort to provoke Australian expats.
Arnone’s antics recall words attributed to Winston Churchill: “A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.” Another Brit, Bertrand Russell, stated that: “The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.”
