Nattily decorated food trucks are all the rage at eight tourist-friendly locations around Hong Kong, offering local and foreign diners a selection of Chinese, American and Japanese delicacies and other easy-to-eat specialities.

Food trucks are the latest craze in Hong Kong, augmenting the dining scene from Central to the harbour front and from Golden Bauhinia Square to Hong Kong Disneyland. You can find them at Ocean Park, in Wong Tai Sin Square and Tsim Sha Tsui Art Square, at the Energizing Kowloon East Venue 1 and Salisbury Garden.

Sharing their roving cooks’ passion and experience, the food trucks offer an amazing variety of dishes, cooked quickly within the confines of the converted vehicles.

Among the popular names are Ho Yuen Express, famous for grilled squid, Pineapple Canteen with its pineapple bun with fresh cream, and Crunch Munch and its barbecued pork “crunch” and Pat Chun Saucy. That one’s got amazing sakura shrimp with umami sauce.

They’re easy enough to find, but hungry folks can also download a free HK Food Truck application for any kind of phone.
