Thailand to host 7th Senior & 14th Junior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships 2017

Bangkok, May 10, 2017: Thailand is ready to make another history by hosting the 7th Senior & 14th Junior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships from May 16-21 2017 at the Nimibut National Stadium.

LCDR. Srayuth Patanasak Rtn., President of Gymnastics Association of Thailand alongside Mr. Chokchai Kunawat, Deputy GM , the Government Savings Bank, Operations division, Dr. Prapan Prai-Angoon, Secretary to the Department of Physical Education, and several others from the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) together held a press conference indicating Thailand’s readiness as host of the the 7th Senior & 14th Junior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships 2017 at Kasatsuk Room 3, 4th floor of the Twin Towers Hotel, Bangkok on this past May 10th.

As the Asian Gymnastics Union sees Thailand’s potential as highly qualified host of the event, it gives a green light for the competition to include two classifications of Senior and Junior.

A total of over 600 gymnasts from 25 countries namely China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korean, the Philippines, North Korea, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Iraq, Kirgizstan, Nepal, Syria, Jordan, and Thailand will take part in the event.

LCDR. Srayuth Patanasak Rtn., President of Gymnastics Association of Thailand, stated that this event will bring together top gymnasts from all over Asia to Thailand and the Asian Gymnastics Union is planning to use this event as a platform to elevate the standard of Asian gymnastics to the

global level. He is also confident everything will be smooth and handled with professionalism starting from facility preparation to the organizing of the games itself. Thai athletes are also in good spirit, excited to represent their country, and hope to do well for the fans.

19 Thai gymnasts who will be competing in the event consists of 5 in the category of Junior Male namely Punyapat Boonpatham, Jessadakorn Rodploy, Thanapat Payat, Suphucheep Baobenmad, and Patsawit Lahroon, 4 in the category of Junior Female namely Sasiwimon Mueangphuan, Pimnapat Supapitakpong, Tawanrut Saehun and Wirawan Taworn, supervised by Aekaraj Chankroong and Jiraporn Ratanakaew as their trainers.

As for the category of Senior Male, 5 gymnasts are Tissanupan Vichienpradit, Jamorn Prommanee, Natthawut Lamaiwan, Natthawat Lamaiwan and Tikumporn Surintornta. And 5 gymnasts for Senior Female are Prawprow Duangchan, Thidaporn Khanthara, Kanyanat Boontoeng and 2 Thai-Americans Nasha Janelle Manitkul-Davis and Karla Sue Kronpreya Frank, supervised by Feng Zha from China, Culichia Nathaniel Joseph from America and Kittipong Yudee as their trainers.
