Toyota Motorsport Festival kicks off in Phuket

Rising star Kraivuth Jinthakamphaeng clinched victory in the opening round of the Vios One Make Race Division 1 race at the temporary 1.5-km Sapanhin Park track here on Sunday.

The event was held over the weekend by Toyota Motor Thailand, and consisted of five One Make Race (OMR) competitions.

Driving for the KYB Superclub Racing team, Kraivuth maintained his pole position, maintaining a 3-second lead over Putthamon Thanaphasuk of C Fon Racing Team, and completed the 22-lap battle in 22:51.217 mins. Finishing in third position was Chakraphan Phatharathadaphong of KYB Super Club Racing.

Meanwhile in the Vios OMR Division 2 race held earlier on Saturday, Kampol Chanphenprasarn completed the 20-lap race in 21:35.750 mins, followed by Ruzli Jeh-ubong (21:37.200 mins) and Clement Leung (21.37,965 mins).

In the 20-lap Vios Lady Cup, also held on Saturday, Thanchanok Charoensukhawattana, daughter of pro driver Natthavude Charoensukhawattana, dominated with a 7-second lead and claimed the win in 21:28.577 mins. Finishing in second place was Kamolchanok Boonkram (21.:35.380 mins) and third was Japanese racer Rina Ito (21:39255 mins).

In the Hilux Revo OMR, Sophon Phumarin was the winner, finishing the 22-lap race in 22:55.444 mins, followed by Suphachai Kongman (22:59.180 mins) and Chinavuth Laochinchart (23:00.063 mins).

The main event of the day was the 22-lap Corolla Altis OMR, which saw Theeravet Pukpibul crossing the finish line in 21:53.540 mins. Suphong Khamtonwong finished second (21:59.060 mins) and Kentaro Chiba was third (22.00.211 mins).

The next Toyota Motorsport event will be held in Bangsaen at the end of this month.
