Tolerance and assimilation work both ways

Mr JC Wilcox asks how many Western migrants are going to the Middle East to live and work. Well, quite a few, in fact. A lot go to Saudi Arabia, attracted by tax-free salaries, and many to the other Gulf states. Most are professional workers, engineers, teachers and the like.
Are they risking their lives? Well these are places with very low crime rates. Some of the other countries Mr Wilcox mentions are not safe, having been destabilised after intervention by the Western powers.
It does seem that President Trump is attracted to this part of the world, choosing Saudi Arabia for his first overseas visit. As he said then, “We are not here to lecture – we are not here to tell other people how to live, what to do, who to be, or how to worship.”
