Blame for faulty case against Abhisit and Suthep lies with politicians

Re: “Red-shirt crackdown: Supreme Court agrees no grounds for suing Abhisit, Suthep”, The Nation, yesterday.

At the end of the day someone gave the order to shoot.
This is not a red- or yellow-bashing comment, but questions as to who gave the order need to be answered. There are 80 families out there that will never have a loved one come home. If the General is to be fair, both sides of politics need to be accountable.

Read the Human Rights Watch report (https://www.hrw.org/publications), which is the most authoritative available. It notes that there were armed elements in the red ranks but that the Army’s behaviour was unprofessional and murderous in firing into the ranks of unarmed civilians. The men in black remain mysteriously at large even though capture and interrogation would have provided Thaksin-haters with a smoking gun (in their opinion). The smart money on the reasons for this strange omission links it to inter-military conflicts.

Everyone seems to be missing the point that these charges were dropped because the Department of Special Investigation (on orders from guess who) instigated the charges when they were not legally able to. The charges simply were not legal, so the judges had no course available but to drop them. The debacle stemmed from the Pheu Thai Party telling the DSI to organise the charges. This has nothing to do with anything else or who did what. If they had used the correct department to lay the charges they would be legal and still ongoing.
