How will history judge Suu Kyi?

Let’s go back in history to when Adolph Hitler ruled Germany.

Let’s pretend there was a man – we’ll call him “Otto” – who ran for president of Germany on a pro-democracy platform and won. Hitler tolerated Otto because Hitler could use him as window-dressing. Besides, Otto was powerless, refused to criticise Hitler and called people in the Warsaw Ghetto who turned to armed resistance “Jew terrorists”.
The rest of the world increases trade with Germany because, after all, Hitler couldn’t be that bad if he allowed a “democracy icon” such as Otto to be president.
What’s the difference between the imaginary Otto and the real life Aung San Suu Kyi?
