Srisaket gets hero’s welcome at homeland

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai received a hero’s welcome on Tuesday's morning  in his return from a successful title defence campaign against Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico at the Forum arena in California last weekend.

The 31-year-old fighter who outpointed Estrada to retain his WBC super flyweight crown arrived at the Suvarnabhumi airport amidst the army of local media, family members and fans.

“I would like to thank all the Thai fans for their support and for always believing in me. I’m proud to bring this title home,” said the world champion from Srisaket province.

“Now I can fight with anyone in the 115 pound category,” added the Thai hero who was treated with his favourite food including grilled paddy field rat and spicy  red ant eggs prepared by his parents Jiamsak and Nurat Wang-ek.

He was also awarded with Bt1 million cheque from his sponsor M-150 and another million from his promotor Nakornloung Promotion.
