Prayut should stop dithering over Doi Suthep transgression

TUESDAY, APRIL 10, 2018

Since the Courts of Justice committee has decided it has no power to cancel the construction of the court officials’ housing and office project on Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha should use his overriding Article 44 powers to order the demolition of the project and the restoration of destroyed forest.

Only PM Prayut can right this wrong.
This project is an example of certain laws that were written by the few, for their own selfish benefit, yet have the potential to damage or even destroy the livelihoods of millions of people. Hence this devious transgression must be stopped.
We the people of Chiang Mai will not let up on our objection to the destruction of the Doi Suthep-Pui Sanctuary – which also houses the beautiful Bhubing Royal Palace as well as the revered and much-visited Doi Suthep Temple. This sanctuary also serves as the lungs of Chiang Mai city.
If the government cannot solve this problem, we the people of Chiang Mai will consider forwarding our petition to His Majesty King Rama X – for his royal kindness and consideration.
We urge the government to recognise the seriousness of this situation.
