The 20th Asian Games, “Aichi-Nagoya 2026”, close on Sunday (October 4, 2026) after opening on September 19, with the closing ceremony at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Japan.
Live coverage in Thailand begins at 4pm on National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT), T Sports 7, PPTV HD 36 and the AIS PLAY app.
The ceremony features cultural performances and the handover of the Games flag to Qatar, host of the 21st Asian Games, “Doha 2030”.
Thailand finished seventh with 52 medals, comprising 18 golds, 13 silvers and 21 bronzes. The gold medal tally surpassed the target of 15 set by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).
Apart from the 1998 Games, which Thailand hosted, this was the country’s highest gold medal haul and best Asian Games performance, achieved away from home.
The ceremony also includes the presentation of the men’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award to Thai national team sprinter Puripol Boonson, known as “Bew”, who won two gold medals and one silver.
He is the first Thai athlete and the first from an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member country to receive the award.
He is also the second track and field athlete in Asian history to receive it.
