Obviously they do not live in the real world and sometimes I wonder whether they are indeed fictitious characters.
The latest example comparing the Shadow Cabinet to a schoolyard play is mischievous at best.
In the world's mature democracies - and I stress the word mature - shadow cabinets play an important and vital role.
The Democrat Party's - as the loyal opposition - aim is to achieve a comparable level with the true democracies of this world and their attempt deserves praise and certainly not ridicule.
The following quote is from Wikipedia, which I recommend Meechai consult:
"The Official Loyal Opposition Shadow Cabinet (usually known simply as the "Shadow Cabinet") are, in British parliamentary practice, senior members of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition who scrutinise their corresponding office holders in the Government, develop alternative policies, and hold the Government to account for its actions and responses. Since May 2010, the Labour Party has been Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, and its leadership therefore forms the current Shadow Cabinet."
