Waxing lyrical over a blue cat

Madame Tussauds Bangkok, the first worldrenowned wax museum in Southeast Asia, is proud to introduce the superstar blue robot cat of Doraemon from the popular Japanese comic books and TV cartoon series.

The museum in Bangkok is the first Madame Tussauds branch in the world to showcase the cat in wax to visitors. The figure, which is 129.3 centimetres high and weighs 129.3 kilograms, is exhibited in the museum’s Movie Zone.
“Doraemon” is a very popular cartoon in Japan and many other countries throughout the world including Thailand. It was written by Fujiko F Fujio, who mentioned that the blue robot cat was born on September 3rd, 2112, which means that “the round bodied and earless cat” will actually pop into the world 101 years from now. In reality, Doraemon has been everybody’s best friend for 41 years as he travelled back from the future world to help take care of a lazy and goodfornothing boy named Nobita. Every time Nobita creates or is in trouble, Doraemon will provide help with magic toys from his front pocket such as a shoot copter, an invisible cloak and a time machine (to travel through the past and the future).
To celebrate the launch of the Doraemon sculpture, the museum is offering a special package until October 31. Visitors will be offered a free Polaroid photograph with Doraemon and receive a Doraemon doll as a souvenir.
Madame Tussauds Bangkok is  on the sixth floor of Siam Discovery and tickets are priced Bt430 for adults and Bt310 for children.
