Her Majesty the Queen honoured Bangkok’s 13th International Festival of Dance & Music by graciously presiding over the performance of “Don Quixote” by the world renowned Mariinsky Ballet from St Petersburg last month. The dancers and orchestra had the audience gasping for breath with the beauty of their dancing.
The stars of the evening were Valeria Martynyuk as the feisty Kitri and Vladimir Shklyarov as Basilio. The strength and beauty of the perfectly synchronised corps de ballet added to the magic of the evening. The ballet was accompanied by the Mariinsky Orchestra, conducted by Alexei Repnikov.
Top dignitaries of Bangkok turned up to witness the tale unfold on the stage at the Thailand Cultural Centre.
