Do crabs cause floods?

My maid says that the reason Thailand is flooded is that Prime Minister Yingluck's nickname is Boo, which means "crab".
She says crabs attract water, and that’s why we’re having floods.
I tried to point out that crabs don’t attract water, although water no doubt attracts crabs.
My maid remains firm in her belief, and although it sounds like superstition to me, I am unwilling to question local wisdom.
I wonder if any of your readers could shed some light on this issue.
