The admission of Deputy PM Kittiratt Na-Ranong at Davos of the past failure of some ministers to heed the warnings of Japanese and other agencies of the coming floods was a refreshing sign.
Rarely does a Thai official or minister ever admit to a mistake and learn from it.
If Kittiratt goes on with this frankness as a model for all in power to follow, we then can see great hope in never experiencing the 2011 water havoc again and in a new and mature standard for all ministers and officials to follow.
Thailand’s level of ethics and governance could be raised tenfold.
