As usual, Somsak Pola’s logic appears to flow smoothly in defending Yingluck’s previous testimony of not being a nominee shareholder of her brother and not having committed perjury. That is not up to Khun Somsak or Lung Kip to decide but up to the country’s legal process.
However, Khun Somsak’s citation of a judge’s error on the murder case of one famous doctor against his physician wife appears to be a figment of his imagination. Somsak could be held for contempt of court for that false statement.
The husband, a specialist with professorship, was accused by the police of murdering his wife. The public prosecutor declined to take the case to court because no corpse was found. The wife’s family took over the case with the help of one exemplary police officer who believed in the guilt of that high-powered doctor. High society, especially academics, was then up in arms about that officer for “defaming” that upright doctor. The circumstantial evidence was so overwhelming that the court had to sentence that doctor to death. There was no mistake by the judges on the case and no retrial had ever existed. It was a judgmental error by the public prosecutor.
The academics were so stunned by the daily reports of the evidence and belatedly realised silence was golden. They had learned a lesson in not ever rendering blindly one’s loyalty to anyone.
