Win or lose, how could any fan believe in the results? How can the game even be played? Are those who threaten really sportsmen – or Mafia thugs – making offers that the judges cannot refuse?
It is a call for chaos to say that if the judges rule against you, your followers will arrest them for treason, because if you can make a lawful arrest, then you can try the justices as well, and execute the sentence – and the sentence for treason is death, is it not?
Is this what Thaksin meant when he said that he’d bring us “true democracy”? Or did he mean, “true demagoguery”?
So, I fully back the Lawyers Council of Thailand in their call for an end to the threats and pressure directed at Constitution Court justices who were deciding on the charter amendment bills. All political parties and shirts of all collars claim to be acting in the name of democracy. To prove it, each party/shirt leader should announce that such behaviour is totally against all that the party stands for, and that any of their MPs or members who makes such threats will be booted out of their group immediately.
Let the justices call the case the way they interpret the law, for “If the country does not follow the rule of law, it will not survive” (HM the King).
