Thieves in the Thai postal system

It would appear that sending an envelope by registered mail at Thai Post is a clear sign to thieves that there is something of value inside.

As is my custom with my grandchildren in Australia, I recently sent my grandson a card for his fifth birthday, putting a US$50 note inside.
The envelope and birthday card were duly delivered, but the money had been skilfully removed, with no obvious sign of tampering on the envelope.
As the envelope and card were delivered, albeit minus the money, I have no claim on Thai Post. But that is of little consequence.
What is more important is that a little boy’s birthday ended up in tears when he opened the envelope looking for the promised money to buy a present. “Dtaa (grandpa) is tricking me,” he said to his mother.
I am sure the thief will not read this letter, but someone in authority at Thai Post should conduct a rigorous audit of its systems.
