In film, music calls the Toon

We're told there was once a time when it was possible to keep something secret.

That sounds far-fetched as we peruse the newly revealed salaries of celebrities Atiwara “Toon Bodyslam” Kongmalai and Arak “Pe” Supamornsiri. This is of quasi-crucial interest because of a rumour spread by Super Bantoeng magazine that Pe was paid Bt10 million less than Toon Bodyslam for appearing in “Young Bao Project”, aka “Carabao the Movie”, despite this being Toon’s acting debut.
Super Bantoeng claimed that Toon’s music label, GMM Grammy, secured his fantastic fee of Bt13 million. It appeared that Pe, a veteran of several movies, would be struggling to make ends meet with a mere Bt3 million.
Not even that much, Pe disclosed at the opening of the Sundance HD channel – not even Bt1 million. “I would never get Bt3 million! But I love acting and even if I were paid less, I’d still do it.”
As for musician Toon pulling down Bt13 million for his first foray into cinema, Pe says he has no hard feelings. “He has his band with him, so it’s fair.”

Don’t even blink

Scenario has really been on a ratings ride with its TV shows lately. Channel 3 has just abruptly pulled “Penkow” out of its late-night Thursday line-up, citing a drop in viewers.
And this came after the channel axed “Pen Tor” for “inappropriate” content and then asked Takolkiat “Boy” Veeravan at Scenario to improve “Penkow” in unspecified ways.
Then that plug was pulled too, a little too abruptly for many pundits on the social media. The characters never got a chance to develop, they said.
At any rate, Boy is already moving on, unveiling “Krob Krua Kam” (“Funny Family”), which will take over the “Penkow” time slot. It’s a “sitcom variety” starring TV news host Meesuk “Kai” Chaengmeesuk and singer Joke Socool and featuring different guests each week. “I think I can guarantee that it’s very hilarious,” says Boy. “It will put everyone in great humour for a good night’s sleep.”
