When the cold wind blows

When the cold wind blows... then it's time for the Overcoat Music Festival up in Thailand's 'Little Switzerland'

With temperatures in Phetchabun’s Khao Kho, or “Little Switzerland”, scheduled to drop to around 10 degrees Celsius next month, the organisers of the 2012 edition of the Overcoat Music Festival are once again looking forward to welcoming fans to the province to enjoy the sounds and breathe in the bracing air.

“After the overwhelming success of the last two years, I think it’s clear that people from Bangkok, Phetchabun and nearby provinces would like the winter festival to be an annual event,” says deputy Phetchabun governor Supachai Iamsuwan. “Overcoat is the biggest music festival in the lower north and Khao Kho offers picturesque scenery and a cool climate the whole year. In December, the temperature some nights falls to lower than 5 degrees.”
“Tourism isn’t only doing well in Khao Kho but also in nearby areas,” adds Chulapong Kunwong, chairman of the Tourism Council of Thailand in Phitsanulok and Khao Kho Tourism Business Club.
The upcoming festival, which is being held at The Front by BM Farm on December 9, is staying true to its “First Love & Remember Love” concept. Among the artists crooning love songs this year will POP, ETC, Mild, 25 Hours, Friday, Tattoo Colour, Singular, Better Weather, Laong Fong, Lipta, Two Poptorn, Tor Saksit, Watcharawalee and Academy Fantasia alumni Padcha, Zani, 123 Soul and Nat Sakdathorn.
There’ll also be food and drinks, several activities and fun games. And festival goers are reminded to bring along warm coats, gloves and hats.
Tickets cost Bt1,300 and are available at ThaiTicketMajor.
