Scheming to get rich

Re: "Who is really benefitting from rice subsidies?" Editorial, November 28.

In The Nation’s editorial there are several interesting points. The text points out something that many of us have known all along: “... it has created the opportunity for massive corruption. It seems the majority of money spent has gone into the pockets of people with political connections”.
It’s no surprise that Thaksin is the prime mover behind it. Has anyone delved into who received the Bt160 billion unaccounted for? And who is behind the so-called “dummy company” which is purportedly involved in the questionable transactions?
Also, it’s no surprise that Pheu Thai members will vote against censorship. They have no choice in the matter. Facts and accountability are of zero concern. All that matters for them is toeing the party line, so they can stay in power and continue to enrich themselves.
