Why is Asean integration forced on the Thai people?

However, as of today, not one of the 10 countries that make up the Asean group has given its people the opportunity to vote Yes or No for joining Asean – why is Asean integration being forced on the Thai people?

Asean is sponsored and promoted by the same group that brought the European Union fiasco into being and already local national countries within the European Union have already lost forever jurisdiction over parts of their national sovereignty to the European Union governing body. Will Asean integration also involve the loss of parts of Thai national sovereignty, in which case the Thai people need to know which parts and when, and then be given a say in the future direction of their country.
