However, and despite the developer’s claims, the fundamental crux of the whole matter is that the OPP has approved a flawed plan, and not for the first time. The designs clearly ignore the foundations for sustainable urban development, which are built on human rights and needs. Planning appears to take place as though the people simply do not exist.
I would like to invite all relevant parties to leave their offices or put down their measuring equipment and shovels and join me and other local residents one day at the very opposite end of the same soi (Mahadlekluang 2) where a monster hotel and residences now stands. We wish to demonstrate the result of illegal and ill-designed structures, the “concrete” effects of what happens, for example, when the EIA process is corrupted; how illegal alterations to the original design continue to place over 2,000 people in harm’s way on a daily basis; how civil laws were and continue to be flagrantly broken; and how human rights and economic sustainability have been totally ignored by all parties from the start.
We will point out where people have already nearly been killed, and will certainly be killed in the future. We will show the effects of uncalculated traffic increase, sunlight loss, altered air flows, and will explain the harmful effects of “new” noise, vibration and low-frequency hums.
We will expose the furtive, underhand and sometimes illegal actions that have taken place between the OPP, ONEP and other environmental agencies, local government and authorities, insurance companies, construction companies, the developer/owner and even several major international corporations, and how they all continue to “feed” off one another. We will prove that the entire system is corrupt from top to bottom.
Anyone interested?
