There is still good in the world

I was blessed to witness what I consider to be a true act of kindness. A few years ago I was at the traffic light at the intersection of Rama IV and Silom roads. There were about 15 people at the bus stop when a young foreign man stumbled onto the street.

He was very drunk and probably drugged out. Three local men helped him up, and one stayed with him and tried to find out where he was headed. He reached into the guy’s pocket and found a hotel key. He then took him to a taxi in front of me, paid the driver Bt100 from his own pocket and told him to take the guy back to the hotel. Then he went back to the bus queue.
They say a true act of kindness is one done when there is no hope of being paid back. The foreigner would sober up without even knowing about this touching act of kindness, much less who this angel was.
