Don't let kids get off school vans alone

A toddler is a victim of negligence again. Nong Farna, 5, a kindergartener in a school in Nakhon Si Thammarat, was run over by a school van and died with a broken neck and dislocated shoulder.

After school on June 20, while a school van was taking kids back home, it stopped to drop off Nong Farna. The teacher opened the door for Nong Farna to get off, and then she closed the door without promptly noticing the strap of his backpack caught on the door. When it drove off, the left rear wheel pressed on Nong Farna’s neck and chest.
Nong Farna’s parents entrusted their kid’s life with the driver and the teacher to travel safely to and from school, but they were filled with deep sorrow in return. It was severe negligence that before starting the school van after sending Nong Farna off, he did not look at the left rear-view mirror to see if Nong Farna had already got off, and that the teacher did not get out of the van to take Nong Farna home safely.
The drivers and teachers taking care of children must help toddlers get on and off the school bus safely, including leading the kids by their hand to their home and not letting them walk back home on the roadside or cross a street alone.
It does not waste time to take care of children safely, but it is the duty of drivers and teachers to be aware and responsible for their lives, otherwise this incident will be repeated further.
