Nonzee rides into Chanthaburi

Smiles about as the filmmaker cycles through the province

Director Nonzee Nimibutr, having “shared the love” with moviegoers in his latest romance, “Timeline Jobmai Khwam Songjam”, shared his passion for bicycling with junior school students in Chanthaburi last weekend.
The visit to Wat Bangsrakao School in Laem Sing district, part of the 51-year-old director’s charitable “Timeline” project, came at the end of a long ride around the province with members of the local Arun Berk Fah cycling club.
With school director Wanpen Chanpirom looking on, the pupils greeted their guests with a performance on the percussive bamboo angklung. Several of the cyclists coached the kids on bike safety, including the use of hand signals. “The value of the bicycle doesn’t depend on how much it costs, but how often it’s used,” Wanpen pointed out.
Nonzee and the students rode around the school and then mustered in the cafeteria for lunch.
The Arun Berk Fah club members had earlier taken Nonzee and his companions to several tourist attractions around the province. They started out in the rain, first heading to Nong Bua Market for a taste the province’s best-known dishes. Hor mok pla insri (steamed mackerel in curry paste) and khao nieo luang na kung (yellow sticky rice topped with shrimp) were sampled before a stroll around the market plentiful with fish and vegetables.
The ride continued across the Bangsrakao Bridge and the Taksin Maharat Bridge – regarded as Eastern Thailand’s most beautiful. It offers a 360-degree view of the spectacular river scenery.
