Pamper your facial skin for a more youthful, healthy look at two of Bangkok’s most acknowledged hotel spas, both of which are offering discounts this month.
The Devarana Spa at the Dusit Thani Bangkok has the revitalising Algotime Renewal Facial, using products from French marine-cosmetics and thalassotherapy brand Algotherm, which won the AsiaSpa Award for Best Spa Brand in 2009.
The treatment is designed to make mature skin look more youthful by renewing skin cells and boosting elasticity. When you’re about 35, your skin cells generally weaken and ageing signs become more visible. Your natural renewal process, in which your body produces collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, is disturbed, making your skin dull and sagging.
Algotherm has discovered a “marine source of treasure” it called Algogene, which it claims can help you turn back the clock and renew your natural glow. The essential marine ingredients, mostly seaweed, come from the sea off France’s Brittany coast and are said to be able to get rid of all skin problems.
First the therapist gently scrubs your face to get rid of dead skin cells, and then wraps your face in seaweed extract to allow the good stuff to penetrate deep. The mask covers your eyelids as well to allow the marine minerals to soothe the skin, leaving it soft but not sticky and refreshed afterwards. The mask also helps lighten dark spots and smooth the skin.
The treatment ends with a marine-life serum to moisturise and a head and shoulder massage.
The 90-minite treatment is on offer at the introductory price of Bt4,200 until the end of the month.
Spa InterContinental at the InterContinental Bangkok gives new meaning to teatime with exquisite treatments featuring beauty and wellness products from Themea.
This Paris-based brand incorporates the many soothing and nourishing properties of tea, including the antioxidant effects of green tea, in a wide range of skin- and massage-therapy enhancements.
Tea is more than 30 per cent polyphenol, one of the highest antioxidant concentrations known, and contains antioxidants 200 times more potent than Vitamin E. Tea helps slow ageing signs by neutralising free radicals that break down collagen and elastin.
Themae brings tea’s benefits together in Complexe des 4 Thes (4 Teas Extracts), which blend regenerating white tea, stimulating black tea, soothing red tea and antioxidant green tea. Each treatment enhances one of these teas and combines it with well-balanced spring water to ensure the ultimate purity.
With the power of tea and all things beautifying, there are three packages to choose from to match your skin problem. The Hydrating Strategy Package (Bt4,500) includes a 60-minute Hydration Facial and a 60-minute In-Asia therapeutic massage. This choice is suitable for tired and dull skin.
If you want to totally cleanse and nourish the skin, opt for the Purity-Radiance Package (Bt4,500), which comprises a 60-minute facial and a 60-minute In-Asia massage. Your skin will almost immediately feel supple and moisturised, with a natural glow.
Last but not least is the Rejuvenating Ceremony Package (Bt5,500), which tackles signs of ageing to produce youthful skin. The treatment comes with a 90-minute anti-ageing facial and a 60-minute In-Asia massage. The result is quite immediate – you can see your skin brighter and smoother and the fine lines seem less visible. For lasting results, the spa recommends undergoing this treatment at least once a month.
Themea products are also available at the spa for personal pampering at home.
