Natural face, dramatic eyes

 Leading US cosmetics brand Bobbi Brown celebrates the arrival of the cooler season with a new foundation that promises a natural matte look whether you’re out for the day or partying at night.

Makeup artist Cherdchai Sithimanachai says he’s impressed with the flawless natural feel offered by the brand’s Skin Weightless Compact Powder Foundation SPF 16, which comes in 20 true-to-skin shades.

“It’s a cashmere-like powder that delivers a buffed, polished finish, and it isn’t heavy. It creates natural-looking coverage that will definitely suit many Thai women,” he says. 

The formulation of the foundation is key, he adds, and is accomplished using the “Slurry” technique, in which the minerals-based powder is gently blended with fluid foundation before baking at 70 degrees Celsius for 15 hours. 

“That gives an oil-free powder with a soft, creamy texture that feels smooth and comfortable. It blends evenly and seamlessly with the skin and conceals all manner of blemishes,” he explains.

The matte Day look is best accessorised with a pop tone lipstick. “You’ll definitely be making a statement,” Cherdchai says.

Then pair with an almost-nude lip colour for a perfectly balanced look that’s subtle yet sexy. The trick is to apply an eye makeup product such as concealer first to prevent overdoing it then add the colour a little at a time, blending it, then adding more if needed. Whether you go for slightly smoky or super smoky is up to you. A modern smoky eye looks best paired with rich, matte nude lips.”
