The new G3 Stylus from LG isn't as bright or powerful, but it does a fine job with music and photos

LG G3 Stylus is a new G3 smartphone that comes with a stylus for note writing and, best of all, an affordable price.
Compared to the flagship G3, G3 Stylus has a lower-resolution screen, but it’s the same size – 5.5 inches. There’s also less memory and storage and it’s CPU is slower.
The consolation is that G3 Stylus still has pleasing performance at an affordable price of only Bt8,990.
It’s powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and has one gigabyte of RAM or working memory and storage space of 8GB.
Its 5.5-inch IPS display has a resolution of 540x960 pixels.
Like the flagship G3, G3 Stylus runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and has a plenty of battery juice at 3,000mAh.
It has decent-quality main camera of 13 megapixels and a 1.3MP front camera. Its front camera is designed to assist selfie-shooting with a front camera light and a hand-gesture shutter. And its power button at the back cover, just below the lens, can also be used as shutter button.
G3 Stylus has two Sim slots that are easy to manage. You can set one Sim for voice calls and the other for data connection.
G3 Stylus supports 3G connection. I tested it on TrueMove H’s HSPA+ 850MHz 3G connection. I managed to download and install applications fast. Mail checking was done in a breeze and Facebook checking and updating was fast and smooth.
The phone has good performance. The touch screen and menus were responsive and scrolling was fast as well. Web pages were rendered fast and the screen was bright enough. Its large screen is good for dual-window multitasking as well.
G3 Stylus also functions as a good-quality MP3 player. I tested it with my Razor in-ear headphones and I was happy with the music quality.
G3 Stylus comes with an app that makes most of its pen-enabled function. The app is Quick Memo+ that lets you take notes or draw directly on images or maps.
A nice security feature that G3 Stylus inherits from its big brother G3 is the Knock Code that allows more than 86,000 patterns of 3-8 taps on the screen to unlock the screen.
The feature allows you to wake up the phone and unlock it in one step by tapping a combination on the screen. The function works by dividing the lower part of the screen into four parts. You can set a pattern for unlocking the screen by tapping one or more parts in any order you want and the phone will remember it.
The phone also requires you to set four digits as a password to unlock it in case you forget your combination or Knock Code.
The Knock Code works to supplement the Knock On function that lets you quickly lock the screen by double-tapping an empty area on the home screen or the status bar in any screen (except on the camera view finder).
The LG G3 Stylus is available now.
