Vint Chavala should not take offence. If he reads my letter again he will note that nowhere in it do I accuse him of harbouring a bias against women. In fact, I do not recall him ever making any demeaning or insulting personal attacks on women, including Yingluck Shinawatra. He has regularly criticised Yingluck’s political performance as prime minister, but that’s a different matter.
As regards Mr Chavala’s assertion that Thai women are used by men as fronts and scapegoats, well, I am married to a Thai lady, and am not so sure he has this right. In my experience, Thai women in general are nobody’s fools and can look after themselves.
