If Janie's got another guy, we'll just have to live with hints

ACTRESS JANIE THIENPHOSUVAN is under close observation again due to a potentially new romance in her life, and we’re seeing a never-ending “Groundhog Day”-style loop to the gossip with fans and showbiz reporters again taking turns spotting and deciphering “clues” in her Instagram posts. That’s how Janie leaked the news that her marriage to politician Chonsawat Asavahame was souring last year. 

Pundits believe that 35-year-old businessman Chalermchai “Kueng” Mahagitsiri – dubbed by Forbes as a Thai tycoon to watch – is the most likely candidate to slip the next ring on Janie’s finger, basing their findings on hints that both she and he have left online. It’s an intriguing possibility given his prominent family name. His clan is into everything from coffee to steel. 

For her part, all Janie had to do was start using the hashtag #mynewbeginning on Instagram and her fans picked up the scent. Earlier this year she uploaded a photo showing her with a hairstyle just like Keung’s, shaved close at the nape of her neck. 

Well, that sure looked like a major clue to us, but then this week there was a picture of Janie at the Backstreet Boys concert in Bangkok, accompanied by Kueng and several other people, and she insisted that he and she are merely friends. That’s what she’s been maintaining all along, even though they’ve been seen together on many occasions, the moments sometimes caught in photos posted on their Instagram accounts. 

Meanwhile Janie is launching three different businesses – her pop-up beverage bar The Sip recently opened at Siam Centre. While calling her pal Nana Rybena her No 1 adviser in the scheme, she also thanked Kueng for giving her some valuable ideas too, but “he’s not my business partner either”, she told reporters at the opening.

Fans can keep guessing all they want, but when it comes to her love life, Janie’s sewn her lips together and is sticking to that “friend” business. Soopsip is wondering, though, why she said in one interview that she’s too busy for a relationship because of her commercial plans (“I want to focus on work and business, so I don’t have time to think about love”) and yet, in another, she said we’re only seeing more of her and Kueng because she’s got so much free time lately (“so I have the chance to meet up with friends”).
