I’m afraid that “Impartial Observer” is wrong if he believes the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo contains the remains of Japanese war criminals, or of anybody else. The Shinto shrine commemorates, in its Book of Souls, everyone who died in the service of the Japanese Empire between 1868 and 1947. But it is neither a graveyard nor a collection of crematoria pots. Almost 2.5 million people are commemorated there, including a grand total of 14 Category A war criminals from the Second World War.
