Commentaries about Trump are alarming for citizens outside US

Re: “Beasley breaks silence on US presidential campaign”, “What I learned as Donald Trump’s media ‘psychologist’”, Opinion & Analysis, March 4.

Beasley’s views on the prospect of calling Donald Trump as US president were light-hearted but, strangely enough, somewhat persuasive. We all would certainly like to see US “First Lady”, former model and legal immigrant Melania more than “First Husband” Bill Clinton, or the alternative of Bernie Sanders, a superannuated socialist, and his Irish wife. Trump’s added bonus is the sight of his former-model daughter, Ivanka. Being a master in adjectives and abrupt manners, both China’s Xi and Russia’s Putin would have a hard time in taking advantage of “President” Donald Trump.
However, in The Nation of the same day, an article appeared on the first-hand dealing with Trump, written by the former executive editor of the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal, that should alarm any reader on the rationality of this autocratic individual. He has the knack of getting his way with least respect for critics and is an expert in damning his opponents with “a barrage of profanity”. The revelations from this must-read article do not give much comfort for world peace.
Perhaps with the same fear as many other Americans, Mitt Romney, former Republican presidential candidate, initiated the stop-Trump campaign, calling Trump dangerous to American’s future. He labelled Trump as not “a stable, thoughtful leader”, “a phony and a fraud”, “creating scapegoats of Muslims and Mexican immigrants”, “dishonesty is Donald Trump’s hallmark”, “bullying, the greed, the showing off, the misogyny, the absurd third-grade theatrics”, “playing the American public for suckers” and “a man whose imagination must not be married to real power”.
Wow, coming from a gentleman like Romney, that must have been a last-ditch bid to save America.
