Unfortunately, Egon has completely misunderstood the content of my letter on Tuesday. My remarks were in fact a put-down of John Shepherd’s silly claims in his July 16 letter - that British parliamentarians were high on ya ba, that what Britain needs is a

I do not dislike Boris Johnson. He does have a history of lying and of unfortunate gaffes, so he is far from perfect. However, he brings much-needed charisma and colour to UK politics, is undoubtedly highly intelligent and will, hopefully, make a good foreign secretary.
