By his mean-spirited attack on the grieving mother of a dead soldier, Donald Trump has blown his cover. He has revealed his essential identity as an attack dog with no sense of compassion or proportion. All he knows how to do is attack.
He defends himself by saying it’s not in his nature to back down. But when you’ve made a mistake, apologising and backing down is the only way to go.
Trump boasts that he has “employed thousands of people” and “created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures”. Those weren’t sacrifices, Mr Trump. Those were investments. If you don’t know the difference, you’d better go back to Sunday school.
