Buddhism teaches way of thinking freed of superstition

Re: “True Buddhism results in democracy, but not Thai Buddhism”, Letters, 20 September.

While I don’t always agree with JC Wilcox’s opinion, I do wholeheartedly agree with his letter on Buddhism.
I think true Buddhism is a philosophy and not a religion. It teaches a way of life, a way of thinking, but without the worship of a deity.
JC Wilcox’s letter goes on to say, “If all children were trained in the four main Buddhist functions of the mind … their minds would develop in a constructive, positive way.” Sadly the main stumbling block is the first word – “if”.
