Destination-management company Asia DMC has formed a partnership with Travelife.
Coinciding with its 20th anniversary, Asia DMC Vietnam has been awarded partner status with Travelife, the training, management and certification initiative for tourism companies. It recognises the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental and social sustainability.
Several initiatives have been undertaken by Asia DMC Vietnam to meet Travelife’s high standards, including reducing energy use, only using sustainable suppliers, eliminating the use of plastic bottles, and implementing child and animal-welfare policies.
It also plans a carbon-offsetting project for its leisure guests by the end of the year.
“Reaching partner status with Travelife is a wonderful achievement and reflects the hard work of every Asia DMC member,” says group managing director Linh Le.
“We look forward to adding further value to our trade partners and clients by providing responsible, sustainable and educated travel experiences across the entire region.”
Travelife chief executive Naut Kusters commended Asia DMC Vietnam for its “clear commitment to sustainability”.
“Through Travelife’s and online platform and training programmes, Asia DMC will be provided with the best possible support as it advances its CSR efforts.”
Asia DMC’s sustainability programme is underscored by the work of the HG Foundation, its CSR arm, which provides environmental and social benefits to communities across Southeast Asia.
Earlier this year Asia DMC and the foundation launched the “Roots and Fruits” campaign – a tree-planting initiative that spanned seven destinations in three countries.
Asia DMC Vietnam joins Asia DMC Myanmar as a certified Travelife partner. The company will now take its sustainability efforts to the next level by working towards achieving partner status at group level, and spreading the benefits of its CSR programmes to communities all across Southeast Asia.
