Committed to accelerating health innovations in Thailand, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) will be hosting the 20th annual meeting of the International Network of Health Promotion Foundations (INHPF) in Bangkok from November 7-10.

The forum, to be held at ThaiHealth’s head office in Soi Ngam Duphli, will focus on accelerating health promotion innovations towards equitable well-being through strengthening INHPF’s network, knowledge and experience sharing, and international cooperation, ThaiHealth manager Dr Supreeda Adulyanont said.

Supreeda explained that ThaiHealth, a health promotion agency under the Prime Minister’s Office, was among the founding members of INHPF, which was formed in 2000 and now has eight members from seven countries.

He went on to say that ThaiHealth has been supporting the operations of INHPF including the establishment of a financial mechanism to support health initiatives in various countries under ProLEAD project, welcoming health agencies from dozens of countries, and sharing ThaiHealth’s experience and know-how at international forums such as the global conferences on health promotion organised by the WHO and the IUHPE.

“The hosting of this upcoming meeting highlights Thailand’s commitment to the INHPF mission of pushing health promotion toward a global agenda,” he said. “The forum will also serve as a platform to showcase Thailand’s health innovations and model health projects to international audiences.”

Dr Sandro Demaio, chair of INHPF and chief executive officer of the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation, said that representatives from seven members of INHPF are expected to join the forum in Bangkok.

They are: Western Australian Health Promotion Foundation (Healthway), Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth), Malaysian Health Promotion Foundation (MySihat), Korea Health Promotion Foundation (KoreaHealth), Tonga Health Promotion Foundation (TongaHealth), Mongolian Health Promotion Foundation, and Taiwan’s Bureau of Health Promotion.

“Apart from working with health promotion foundations in each member country, INHPF also cooperates with global organisations for international health promotion projects, such as the World Health Organisation (WHO), Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) and International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE),” Demaio said.
