Man drowns after jumping into canal in Pathum Thani

A man jumped into a canal in front of a temple in Pathum Thani's Thanyaburi district Monday morning and drowned, police said.

The Thanyaburi police station was alerted of the apparent suicide at 8am.
Witnesses told police that the man left a cloth bag on the sidewalk at the edge of the Prayoonsak Canal in front of Wat Mool Jindaram and jumped into the water.
Divers from the Portecktung Foundation combed the canal bed for an hour before they found and retrieved the body.
The man was identified as Boonsong Inung, 38, from Buri Ram’s Kaen Dong district.
The body was sent to the Thammasat University Hospital for a post mortem and for relatives to claim.
