Kasetsart University council to select new rector Monday
The Kasetsart Univeristy’s Council will select the new rector of the university from three short-listed candidates on Monday, a vice president of the council said Wednesday.
Prof Dr Pirasak Sriniwet, who heads a committee in charge of rector selection, said his panel has short-listed three candidates for the top post.
They are: Dr Jongrak Watcharinrat, acting rector and a lecturer at the Faculty of Forestry, Assoc Prof Dr Bancha Kwanyuen, lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof Dr Supha Harnnongbua, a lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences.
Pirasak said the three were shortlisted from 10 candidates following an exam that asked three questions. Each candidate was given 30 minutes to answer each question and members of the selection committee voted for each candidate.
Pirasak said each of the three short-listed candidates received an equal number of votes so the university council would make a final decision on the choice of the new rector.
Pirasak added that the university has had no official rector for five years so it has missed a lot of opportunities and its word ranking has been on the decline.
