The surgical mask and hand sanitising gel shortage will improve soon as the government tries its best to find additional measures to tackle the Covid-19 situation, Energy Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong said today (March 17).

Sontirat said the government is “fighting hard”, while the Public Health Ministry is trying to find measures to control the number of infected people.
“The ministry is cooperating with Finance to use alcohol from ethanol factories for the production of hand sanitising gels, 36 million litres of which were recently delivered, while all factories are accelerating manufacture of the gels,” he said.
“The surgical mask situation has begun to improve. Therefore, we would like to ask people to not worry, and to maintain home and workplace safety, and take care of themselves.”
Sontirat also said the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand has already discussed the issue of returning electricity-meter deposits with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and the Provincial Electricity Authority.
“We expect this to proceed at the end of the month by allowing people to fill out a form at the electricity authority office in their area or online,” he said.
Regarding the issue that opposition parties want to open a council meeting to discuss the Covid-19 situation, he said Palang Pracharat Party members have to deliberate on this issue first “because every issue must be discussed creatively”.
