University keeping virus-hit farmers afloat
Kasetsart University has stepped in to rescue dairy farmers hit by plummeting demand for their milk after schools across the country closed due to the virus pandemic.
Kasetsart University Dairy Centre is now distributing huge stocks of milk at below-market price, which is proving a big hit with customers.
About 20,000 packs of milk are sold each day, most of which are donated by the centre to medical personnel and orphanages. The centre even delivers the donated milk.
One carton costs Bt5 until April 12, when the price will be raised to Bt7.
KU milk is sold in six varieties: plain, low-fat, sweet, chocolate, strawberry and coffee. It also sells drinking yoghurt in different flavours, including orange, lychee, pineapple and lime.
