Commerce Ministry ready to hand over 10% of its budget

The Commerce Ministry has allocated 10 per cent of its budget to help with the government’s battle to alleviate the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak, Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said on Friday (April 17).

The move is part of the government’s policy to draw 10 per cent of each ministry’s budget to help ease the impact.
Jurin said he has sent details of the 10 per cent budget transfer to the Budget Bureau.
Boonyarit Kalyanamit, the Commerce Ministry’s permanent secretary, said part of the 10 per cent was taken from the remainder of the 2020 budget allocated to the ministry. He said these funds were earmarked for organising seminars, hiring advisers and for covering overseas study tours.
The Commerce Ministry’s budget for the 2020 fiscal year stood at around Bt9 billion.
